Foremost Yoruba Socio Cultural and ideological group has blamed Nigeria leaders for what he called fallout of leadership and essential Democratic dividends promised the people when agreeing to lower the British Union Jack for a Green White/Green Nigeria Flag.
“At independent day in 1960, We looked like a nation birthed to utilise it’s resources for greater advantage of assuring life and hope, and not to create unrest, joblessness and further impunity” leads the statement.
Nigeria was described as a sorry case battling unending decay infrastructure, corruption and pilferated economy created by innocuous leaders of the past who suddenly became insensitive and dart of leadership foresight to drive the wheel of change.
In a statement written, signed and made available to press addressing the nation on this year Celebration of Independent Day titled ‘The road, the path and The gains; Nigeria Arise, the Alliance of Yoruba Youth Council Worldwide tackled and berated Federal government for causing a greater havoc to our economy through bad leadership foresight. In their words, the current global health heat wouldn’t have had rooted effect on our economy to the point of us losing our market credibility if our leaders are foresightedly armed to provide enviable leadership before now diversifying the economy.
Before Independence “we are known as the centre for Commercial trade in the 60s where all Western countries including neighboring community of states depend on our agricultural produce to balance their agrarian economy and thus producing further wealth from us. We were then identified as the link to Africa’s diversified richness and pleasant industrialization. With our oil, we were far reach for underage economy in Africa. We meet market demands and create dictate indexes freely. Our country, Nigeria was envisaged to be among top ten viable economic nations by 20years projection.
“Rather than living up to the said gauge and standard, we were commonly dragged into civil war by insensitive leaders with zero tolerance and respect for our commonalities as a nation”.
During the war we suffered a huge setback. We were raped. We were intruded by dead old horses who saw openings to enrich themselves. How we got here from best to worse is alarming but not irreversible. PMS before this current administration was #97, and foreign currency continual rise wouldn’t balance the trade.
We are endowed with vast natural wealth but yet suffered collapse infrastructure that is expected to serve as the bridge that links a growing nation to investment community where food production could have value assess to every region of the country. Bad policies added to unpopular long years of Military rule, who are retarded to Governing by conscience constituted to the worrisome state of our country. Ours as a nation is a divided thoughts and ideas. The west would stand firm on advancing national identity bill when the North is only after sharing formular of power and wealth. Education, identified as the bedrock of growing society is receiving dead hand support from government and private individuals. Abuse of our Culture made the underlining causes potent.
While also attesting to long years of Security threat, the group described Nigeria as one driven by a visionless father and blind followers. The street are in dire scorn. Innocent human lives are shed on alter of scoring political points. Criminals are boasting and justifying killings. The hope of common man, the Court is losing its taste and vigour for corruption. We would rather invest our time and energy promoting impunity – a faux of our sensibilities. The engagement is no longer a point of reason. The Youth, future of today’s vision is blinding.
So we ask, where are the elders in all of this? Where are the Youth? The Future.
The old cargoes wastefully see the youth as a tool to achieving mischievous aims. Zero interest in creating enviable environment for creative ideas and community.
However, while celebrating our freedom from the western nations only to be enslaved by our own, we charged our Youth to arise and put a stop to this faulty order.
The youths must refuse further shackles. We must rise up to defend the effort of our fallen heroes. Rather than becoming devious instrument in the hands of politicians we can create an ideal environment that will force the old order answerable to us massively every election year and beyond. China and other developed Countries arrived here today holding their leaders accountable.
AYYCW further charged Nigerians particularly the youth to begin daily reflection, and urged them to hold all our religious and political leaders accountable for the fallout and darts while assuming roles that checks their excesses. Keeping silence is now a crime if we must truly be free. This occasion of National independence, we must reflect on our loses and gains while projecting the future. The Alliance of Yoruba Youths Council, have rises into their feet to fight for the youth across the country without been bias in their agitations.
