The transitional government of Mali led by President Bah Ndaw, has appointed a new prime minister, Moctar Ouané, to work with him.

Ouané who is 64 years old had served as a former ambassador of the nation to the United Nations (UN) from 1995-2002 and foreign minister until 2009, TVC News reports.

Adding to his profile, the new prime minister is also the delegate general for peace and security of the West African Monetary Union (UEMOA).

However, After being sworn in on Friday, September 25, Ndaw appointed Colonel Daouda Sogoba as his new chief of staff.

The new development has been regarded as the offshoots of the efforts of a former Nigerians leader, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan who recently led an Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) mission to access the progress made towards peace in the country after the coup.
