Joel Onyeka Nkwute is a Businessman, also known as Mazi Okwute who is into logistics of goods and packages.
“When ErrandJoe was born, it wasn’t intended to be a business. It was created as a solution for a problem the company I worked for had. But I realized that it was much bigger, when our neighbors kept asking to use the system we had created to solve the same problems. With the growth of online retail, the demand for our solution was natural, and everyone who knew about us wanted to do business with us, and it meant jobs for many unemployed youths. I decided to make ErrandJoe a business because it was a product whose time has come”
Joel started Errandjoe Services in February 2018.
He admitted to facing a number of challenges when he started. Challenges like “Unexpected costs, like power cuts requiring us to run on generators, sometimes for the whole week, he said they are mitigating this problem by investing in inverter batteries and gadgets that require low power, also Lack of information (data), and then Insufficient funds (this has been a blessing in disguise, really), Lastly draconian government laws that restricts businesses in Lagos state in particular and Nigeria in general .”
He also gave his opinion on youth empowerment. “Entrepreneurship must be enshrined in our educational curriculum starting from Primary school level. Most of us are accidental entrepreneurs, why don’t we make it intentional seeing that the future of Africa now lies with the SMEs owners? We need to provide social empowering schemes that is sustainable and long term minded for our youths,we can’t combat cybercrime without providing an accessible alternative”.
When asked about projects he has done that increased his belief in himself, he said, “Apart from producing 10 A students in government while I tutored in Yenagoa, my most impressive achievement would be boosting sales in the mobile phone store I worked in as sales manager by over 15% after I took over. I achieved this feat by opening instagram and facebook pages for our store, and taking online orders. It was also helpful that I found a working solution to the logistics problem, which made our online sales effective. I’m especially proud of what I and my team have done with ErrandJoe. We are revolutionizing logistics, while creating jobs for many unemployed youths.”
When asked where he draws his inspiration from, In his words, “My inspiration comes from Henry Ford and yeah, I also draw my inspiration from the poverty stricken people who are the majority in my country,I draw my inspiration from that Rose that grew on the concrete pavement!”
Joel is looking forward to partner with Law firms, business owners who sends out items daily within Lagos state. He said he wants Errandjoe to be competitive and relevant in it own business sector.
