The deputy governor of Edo state, Philip Shaibu, has taken swipe at the former national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole, for going on his knees while campaigning for Osagie Ize-Iyamu.

Oshiomhole was reported to have knelt down to beg the council of traditional rulers in Edo state to vote for Ize-Iyamu who is APC’s flagbearer in the coming governorship election.

According to Shaibu, kneeling would not bring the APC victory in the election, Sahara Reporters reports.

The deputy governor is optimistic that the party will be defeated on September 19 when the people of Edo state troop out to select a new leader.

During the flag-off ceremony of Governor Obaseki governorship election campaign in Edo, Shaibu said: “No amount of kneeling stunt will save the former national chairman of the APC, Adams Oshiomhole, and his candidate, Osagie Ize-Iyamu, from defeat.”

With less than three months to the reelection, Philip Shaibu, the running mate to Governor Obaseki, is confident that the APC and its candidate, Ize-Iyamu will be defeated.
