This was disclosed by a spokesperson of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Laolu Akande on Thursday, August 20, that the government was already implementing measures to ensure the funds are utilized effectively, Daily Trust reported.

He said the coordination for the proper utilization of the funding for the initiative was discussed at the National Economic Council (NEC) virtual meeting chaired by Osinbajo.

The meeting was reportedly attended by some state governors, the minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), the governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), and some federal cabinet officials.

According to Laolu, the NEC resolved that the chairman of the Nigerian Governors Forum (NGF), Kayode Fayemi, two governors, among others meet with the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Suleiman Adamu, to coordinate the proper utilization of the funds.
