Ex President, Jonathan Breaks Silence On Nigeria Govt Handling Of COVID-19

The former president shared his perspective when he featured in webinar organised by the Kofi Annan Foundation on Friday,

 

has spoken about something he finds positive in Nigeria’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic

 

Speaking during a webinar organised by the Kofi Annan Foundation on Friday,Jonathan said the efforts of state governors is commendable.

 

During the webinar tagged “Could democracy become the silent victim of COVID-19?”, the president spoke about something he finds positive in Nigeria’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

 

The former president said pandemic has forced some African countries to be proactive as they take steps they would ordinarily not take.

 

He added that countries affected by the pandemic would have good stories to share about it.

 

He commended the efforts of the state governments government in Nigeria in tackling the pandemic.

 

He also harped on the role of power devolution of state governor, which he said was a positive thing.

 

“In Nigeria, I have seen one thing about the management of the COVID-19 which is also positive,” he said.

 

“We’ve seen the role played by the state governments, and some of the state governments are even looking post-COVID-19 era the economy of their people.

 

“And I have seen what could be described as the devolution of powers with the governors.”.
