A Lagos based humanitarian group, Be Inspired Nigeria has reached out to the poor in Lagos suburbs to celebrate 2019 Children’s Day.

The event which held simultaneously in Egbeda, Ikotun and Akowonjo areas of Lagos State featured feeding the needy as well as distribution of relief materials to women in the areas.

Speaking at the event, Programme Coordinator, Nneka Okechukwu said that the exercise is one of the numerous humanitarian activities of the organisation.

“Be Inspired Nigeria is a women only group created to empower women and cater for children.  We make impacts in our immediate society by feeding the poor and attending to their pressing needs.

“This year’s edition of our reach out programme is designed to celebrate the children’s day. We decided to celebrate with the kids on the streets of Egbeda, Akowonjo and Ikotun areas of the state. We see this as a major opportunity to contributing to the gross development of children in Nigeria. They are our future and we have to celebrate them in a special way.

Speaking about future programmes of the group, Okechukwu who is a Chartered Accountant said the organisation will continue to support women and children by expanding her centres across the country.

“We will continue to grow our boundaries across the country to ensure we reach out to women and children who needs help. We have 20 centres in Lagos alone. We have centers in Abuja, Jos, Kaduna and we still aim to expand beyond that,” she said.

Also speaking, Esther Amadi, a Central Admin of the group said, “We also have our counseling offices in all of these centres to have close discussions with women who need help. This group is a global movement founded by Chioma Obaru, a Chartered Accountant.

“The Be Inspired Nigeria (women only) forum will hold her annual conference on September 28, 2019 where issues of wealth creation, empowerment and domestic violence will be discussed,” she said.
